Niche score

Score a niche in 30 seconds. Three Braidpost criteria. One verdict.

Type a niche topic. A short, deterministic heuristic scores it on competition, commerce potential, and E-E-A-T fit, and lands the result in Strong, Worth testing, or Skip. Nothing is sent — the scoring runs in your browser.

How the scoring works

What flips each sub-score up or down.

Every dimension runs off a small set of keyword predicates — a baseline of 3, nudged up by language that signals a winnable lane, nudged down by language that signals a crowded or essay-mode topic.

01

Competition

The lane has to be winnable against new entrants and aggregator launches.

A niche scores on the share of the demand signal a launched site can actually defend. Vintage, home, or homestead defines a winnable shape; fitness or crypto signal a crowded lane.

02

Commerce potential

Readers arrive with a wallet out and a comparison to make.

Buyer-intent predicates (best, vs, review, deal) and commerce operators (price, shop) layer commerce on the topic. Essay-mode predicates turn the commerce bar down.

03

E-E-A-T fit

A named author with skin in the lane can credibly stand behind the topic.

Expertise-evidencing predicates (engineered, certified, regulatory) and credentials (homestead, lab) raise the bar; easy / beginner / starter predicates lower it. The byline is what's graded.
